Many newspaper, media reported that there were many young people enjoys going out with there friends and sweetheart to night clubs, bars, karaoke and guest house during the Valentine’s Day for which they considered as a day to express the true love to their partners. According to Soprach Tong-Researcher on Valentine’s Day recently revealed that hundreds of young people went to one of the night clubs near Beung Trabeak. Most of the guest houses and hotels especially in the evening and night time were fully occupied and booked. Many moto-bikes, cars parked in front of guest houses and hotels. The price of the room of the guest houses and hotels increased almost double price depends on the duration of time stay especially during the Valentine’s Day.

To support to this observation and saying, I could give you the little proof that I found from my small business (Drug Store/Pharmacy) at home that February 14, 2009 is the day that I sold out condom the most to many young people (More than 15 young people I guessed) if compare to the normal day. Some of them bought two or three boxes of condoms which 3 strips each per box.

This proof just leave you questions for thinking: what are these young people doing in the night clubs with their sweetheart? After leaving the night club where will they go for?

According to recent declared by the deputy director of the National Authority that in 2008, the PSI organization conducted a study in which it found that, daily, Cambodians spent $100,000 to have sex outside of their home (extra-marital sex?), and during each night 20 to 30,000 intercourses are taking place. These statistics show that Cambodia is not a poor country at all. The aids authority added that this study indicated that 10% of the youth between the age of 15 and 49 have sex outside of their home. This number climbs to 36% for the 15-24 age group. The preceding number applies mainly to men because only 1% of these numbers are applicable to women. Among women serving in karaoke bars, 14% are dating students.
